Rural America 2020 to release new radio ad highlighting abysmal treatment of farmers by Trump administration

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Rural America Fund 2020, a campaign dedicated to highlighting the negative impacts of President Donald Trump’s policies on rural America, is launching a new radio ad highlighting the devastating impact the Trump administration’s policies have had on Michigan farmers.

The radio ad will run statewide Monday, July 27 through the end of August. The ad features Cheryl Kobernik, a Traverse City cherry farmer and Rural America 2020 board member.

“President Trump continues to brag about how much he has done for the farming community and I am disappointed,” Kobernick said. “The policies of the Trump Administration have inflicted more damage on American farming than any in the past 50 years. As a cherry farmer, I see firsthand the devastation the president’s policies have had on farmers across Michigan.”

Members of the Rural America 2020 Michigan steering committee were announced in early May. The group, comprised of farmers, agri-business professionals and rural residents from across the state, are working to shed a light on how rural Michigan is being left behind and is worse off due to four years of the current administration’s policies and costly trade wars.

“As a proud cherry farmer from Traverse City, I can tell you firsthand, these are tough times for farmers in Michigan.

Farm prices are falling, the Trump trade war in Washington has been a disaster and COVID-19 has only made it worse.

As a farmer, I know we can’t take another four years of failed leadership from the Trump Administration.

Join me in fighting to rebuild rural America at RuralAmerica2020.org.”
